In "How to read a book" the author thinks you should sometimes should struggle to read books that are above you.
The book I am currently reading, "Pausanias Guide to Greece(vol. 1) is surely one. Although its
basis is a descriptive narrative of places and structures in Central Greece, Pausanias includes historical figures, both actual and mythical.
It is difficult to sort what is real and mythical . I am also struggling with pronunciation on names and places.
Fortunately the book is well documented with excellent footnotes and the internet provides more information too.It may be more time consuming and challenging but is really wort the effort.
